Wall Street Road Improvements Project

Overview

The Wall Street Road Improvements Project includes the reconstruction of Wall Street Road from Fourth Street to the easterly corporate line, approximately 560 feet east of the intersection of Rosewood Road. This portion of Wall Street Road is also designated as Rice County Road 79.

The purpose of this project is to improve this transportation corridor, safety and mobility along the corridor including pedestrian and bicyclists needs that are in line with the current City of Northfield’s adopted plans most notably the Complete Streets Policy and the Pedestrian, Bike, and Trail System Plan.

This is a cooperative construction project between the City of Northfield and Rice County.

Wall Street Road from 4th Street to just east of Rosewood Road.

Feasibility study

The process began with the Northfield City Council ordering a feasibility study. The feasibility study examines the proposed improvements along this street corridor to determine whether the project as proposed is feasible, cost effective and necessary.

Community engagement opportunities

January 2024 — Neighborhood meeting #3

This meeting will share the final design and plans for construction.

October 25, 2023 — cancelled neighborhood meeting

There is no Neighborhood Meeting on October 25, 2023.  This meeting will be rescheduled at a later date in January 2024. On October 17, 2023 City Council approved a design change for Option 3B. This eliminates the trail on the north side of Wall Street east of Spring Creek Road. Also, the sidewalk on the north side of Wall Street between Spring Creek Road and Fourth Street has been removed from the project and only a trail will remain in this segment.
